Our Programs
Independent Living Apartment Program We are a licensed child-placing agency with Virginia Department of Social Services. Our program offers Youth Participants an opportunity to experience independence while remaining in a structured and safe environment. This highly structured coaching model engages youth in real-life, real-time independence while offering a nurturing environment that is suited for advanced learning. This program focuses on the key areas for the needs of youth who are aging out of foster care and have not established permanency before leaving the foster care system. Our program is designed for foster care youth who are aging out of care at 18 years old. We will accept Youth Participants who are 18 up to age 21, who are former Foster Care Youth in the state of Virginia, who meet the criteria for Fostering Futures. Additionally, Youth Participants who have the following challenges are appropriate for this program: (1) Learning/education disabilities or have an IEP; (2) ADD or ADHD; (3) Bipolar Disorder; (4) Depression or other Mood Disorders; (5) Lack of Natural Support Systems; (6) Physical/Emotional Abuse or Neglect, Sexual Abuse History; (7) Behavior Disorders, (reviewed on a case by case basis) We are close to schools, vocational programs, and dozens of career and employment options!

Testimonial:
"My child was in their program for 3 years and graduated this month from the program. He has intellectual disabilities and to see how far he has come in just 3 years is amazing! Independent living skills I thought he would never be able to learn, he has mastered due to them! In the time he was with them he has learned how to grocery shop alone, money management, find employment (that worked with his disabilities!), healthy living skills, education opportunities, and so much more! Their team makes you feel like you are part of a family, not a company! I have never had better communication and feeling that my child was safe, as I did with them. The everyday staff, life coaches, case managers, and even the CEO were always available to answer questions or concerns I had. If you are looking for an independent living placement and/or fostering futures program, you can’t go wrong with PICF! I’m so grateful for them and everything they did for my child. God bless everyone at this program!" Gary V. |
